Solution:
To meet these requirements, Pfanzelt relies on two M2600 ECO CAN PLCs and a MicroPlex® 7H from MRS Electronic in the current “Moritz” series. The controllers take over central vehicle functions:
- Hydraulic control: adjustment of the chassis width, control of the PTO shaft, the cable winch and the spiral fan as well as control of the solenoid valves for the hydrostatic drive.
- Intelligent protection function: If the oil pressure drops, the engine is automatically switched off for effective protection against costly consequential damage.
- Cable winch control: The cable position, i.e. the number of windings, is detected via a sensor system. Depending on the cable position, the hydraulic pressure is adjusted to achieve a constant pulling force of the winch.
- Radio receiver protection: The MRS MicroPlex® 7H protects the sensitive receiver from overvoltage and ensures that the cable is always tensioned when the cable is ejected by means of a time delay.
Communication in the “Moritz” takes place via the robust J1939 protocol, which has already established itself in mobile machines.
Advantage: Independent programming with MRS Developers Studio
A particular advantage: Pfanzelt was able to implement the entire application development independently with MRS Developers Studio, which enables graphical programming using function blocks. This saves resources, shortens development times and increases flexibility for future adaptations.
"We regularly use controllers from MRS Electronic in our projects - even in series applications. We are also impressed by the reliability of the M2600 ECO CAN PLC: it has been running absolutely fault-free since the start of the project," explains Thomas Fischer, responsible for electronics development at Pfanzelt.
Summary
With the powerful controllers from MRS Electronic, the “Moritz” becomes a highly intelligent forestry tractor that is also robust, efficient and future-proof. The close cooperation with Pfanzelt shows: The requirements of forestry technology can be specifically met with individual control systems.
